Halloumi nuggets

Today I'd like to share a recipe for baked nuggets, vegetarian style.

I'll make the nuggets out of halloumi cheese, once again using the fact that it's melting temperature is high. Nuggets prepared this way are crispy on the outside, not too heavy, and their structure surprisingly resembles chicken! This idea will work great both as an everyday snack or a party bite.

You'll find the list of ingredients, method and approximate nutritional value below.

Ingredients

  • 1 pack halloumi cheese (225 g)
  • 3 tbsp wheat flour
  • 3 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dry mint
  • 0.5 tsp granulated garlic

Method

  1. Cut halloumi cheese into 1.5 cm slices. Cut each slice into 4 cubes. Pat the cubes dry with a kitchen towel.
  2. Prepare the crust. Beat one egg in a deep plate. Add paprika, mint and garlic to breadcrumbs on a separate plate.
  3. Coat each halloumi cube first in flour, then the egg, and then the breadcrumbs.
  4. Line a baking tin with aluminum foil and spread a bit of oil on it. Place coated halloumi nuggets in the tin and brush them with oil.
  5. Bake in an oven preheated to 200 deg C with a fan function for 15 minutes.
  6. Serve with your favourite dip.
  7. Enjoy!
